It’s a brand spanking new year and this is usually the time when
everyone starts to make New Years resolutions, like exercise more,
eat less or have more sex and get more sleep.
Well, the neat aspect of taking on such a venture, or a new class at
Tease (I like Prima Ballerina-tones, stretches and strengthens! Oh
Yea!), is that all of these things tie together quite nicely. For
example, if you eat better, you get more sleep, and if you exercise
a bit more, you might not only get a tighter booty, you might get
some booty…do ya see where I’m going with this?
So it all comes down to the way we fuel our bodies so that we can
perform at our best, i.e. food. It’s not only about *what* we eat,
but also *how* and *when* we do it.
Of course everyone is different and you might find yourself hungry
for pizza 30 minutes before bed
(bad for sleep, bad for sex, bad for your ass) or you skip
breakfast, or you might only eat one meal/day (bad for your colon,
bad for your metabolism) or you are a carb and sugar
slave….regardless of your eating style, if you decide to make a
change this year, I have some tips that can have you seeing results
by Valentines Day and rocking your bikini by Spring Break.
In my opinion, the first step to making changes in your diet is
doing a cleanse. A new year is the perfect time to start a new
regime-you are motivated, you feel re-newed and you are ready for
some real results. If you are receiving this newsletter, than you
are already one hot mama, because you’ve made the choice to take
classes at Tease, so why not couple that with a few minor tweaks to
your daily intakes.
There are several options for cleanses and the health industry has
made millions on the various products that are available out there
to DIY. I recommend including a cleanse into your health routine as
general maintenance:
Your choices are a 1-day, 7-day, 14-day or the big 21-day, but you
have no choice but to rid your system of the pollution/toxins that
have accumulated over 2009…or just last weekend. And I promise-no
starving your self or drinking lemon juice for a week!
So here is your basic 1-day go-to cleanse that you can do after a
hard week, or your bff’s bachelorette party, or to do once/week to
get back into your skinny jeans…and then go out and buy you some
more!
AWESOME ONE-DAY CLEANSE
(Adjust to your timing as necessary)
7AM:
Warm water with lemon and honey
(This will jump start your digestive system for the day, and you
will need it to be rockin’ for the day, since you are attempting to
expel excess junk)
7:30AM
Linseed water
(Soak 2 teaspoons of organic linseeds in large glass of hot water
and let stand. Cool and drink only the liquid)
8AM
Breakfast-choose from fresh fruit, miso soup or veggie juice
Fruit:
Eat a cup of fresh, room temp fruit. Avoid oranges or grapefruits,
as they are too acidic. If you eat grapes, eat them by themselves.
Miso:
If you don’t wanna deal with making this super simple soup-buy some
ahead of time.
(Recipe below.)
Veggie Juice:
1 cucumber; ¼ inch piece of grated ginger root, 4 celery stalks,
4oz.. alfalfa sprouts, 3 sprigs parsley, 1 peeled carrot-juice and
enjoy
9:30AM
Herbal tea
(Your choice of 1 or 2 cups of herbal tea, try to avoid green tea as
it has a lot of caffeine)
10AM
Fruit Juice
(Make this juice yourself with a juicer if you can. If you are on
the run, be sure to buy a bottle of Naked juice or get some
Apple/carrot juice from JambaJuice)
*If you need juicing ideas, just email me J
12:30PM
Lunch-3 choices; raw salad with sprouts, raw mint/cucumber soup
(recipe below), raw sauerkraut or, if you’re really hungry, some
steamed grains (1 cup of millet, quinoa, rice or amaranth)
2PM
Herbal tea.
2:30PM
Detox Juice
(Do a veggie juice this time and try to use mostly greens: handful
of parsley, 1 kale leaf, 5 carrots and a tiny piece of ginger OR 6
carrots, 2 celeries, 1 apple.
If you are on the go, just do a double shot of wheat grass at
JambaJuice, followed by a small carrot/apple juice)
3PM
Herbal tea
3:30PM
Snacky time!
Munch on some sunflower or pumpkin seeds or some raw sauerkraut.
4PM
Veggie Smoothie-YUM!
6 juiced carrots, 1 avocado (soft), 10 basil leaves, 1 apple
(cored/cut), and 1 slice lemon. Blend in food processor or blender.
5:30PM
Dinner
Big raw salad with sprouts. If you’re really hungry, munch on some
steamed grains.
7:30PM
Warm water with lemon and honey
8:30
Dry brush your skin and take a mineral detox bath.
If you want, you can add some nice essential oils to your bath, as
well as salts, or some liquid minerals.
Relax and meditate. Visualize your hot body transforming into a
Tease Studio queen of sexiness.
9PM
Late night munchies-grub some celery sticks before bed IF you are
feeling really hungry.
Victory! THAT”S IT!! You’ve made it through the day!
As you can see, there are a few things to be aware of and get
prepared for ahead of time. Plan for the cleanse the day or two
before, especially if you know you will be on the run.
I try to plan for this as my Sunday or Monday ritual to cleanse off
some of the vices from the weekend, but you can feel free to do this
cleanse when the mood is right…or when you’ve had enough and want to
make a real change. If you do this cleanse weekly, even if you
aren’t compelled to change your eating habits to eat more veggies,
chew thoroughly and eat smaller meals more often, you will still see
very positive results within a few weeks!
As for the other, longer, more committed cleanses, I will be
delighted to guide you through them with detailed journals and menu
plans, so come find me at a Tease class or check me out on the web -
www.thekitchenmistress.com and we’ll chat!
Miso Soup
2 teaspoons bonito flakes (dried fish product found in Asian
market-it’s optional)
4 C filtered water
3 T Miso paste
8 oz of silken tofu-diced
2 green onions, sliced into ½ inch pieces
Dried kombu or wakame (seaweed optional)
In a medium pot over medium-high heat, combine bonito flakes and
water and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to medium. After a few
minutes, strain out the flakes, but keep the broth and add miso
paste and stir to dissolve completely. If using, sprinkle seaweed
flakes and let hydrate in the hot broth. Stir in tofu and garnish
with onions. Simmer gently and serve.
Cucumber Mint Soup
Juice of 3 cucumber and 2 celeries
1 cucumber chopped
¼ C fresh chopped mint leaves
¼ C fresh chopped parsley
¼ leek, cleaned and chopped
Put all of the ingredients into food processor or blender and blend
until smooth
